Essential Elements of My Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded in therapies that have been extensively researched and shown to be effective.

Evidence-Based Care

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT helps people develop psychological flexibility by learning how to relate differently to difficult thoughts and emotions with self-compassion while taking meaningful action in service of their personal values.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a highly effective treatment for trauma that helps the brain process distressing experiences so they no longer have the same emotional intensity or impact.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

CBT-I is considered the gold-standard treatment for chronic insomnia, helping clients build sustainable sleep habits and improve sleep quality without relying solely on medication.

Psychological Flexibility Is…

  • contacting the present moment fully

  • as a conscious human being who is more than the sum of their history

  • and based on what the situation affords

  • changing or persisting in behaviors

  • in the service of chosen values

Beyond Symptoms — A Comprehensive Path to Healing

Rather than focusing exclusively on symptoms, I help clients understand the interaction between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, physical sensations, relationships, and life circumstances. This comprehensive perspective supports deeper and more sustainable change.

Nervous System Regulation

Emotional health is deeply connected to the functioning of the autonomic nervous system. Chronic stress and trauma can leave the body in persistent states of activation, vigilance, or shutdown.

Through mindfulness, body awareness, breath practices, and principles drawn from Qi Gong, clients learn skills that support greater balance, resilience, and self-regulation.

Whole-Person Healing

Rather than focusing exclusively on symptoms, I help clients understand the interaction between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, physical sensations, relationships, and life circumstances. This comprehensive perspective supports deeper and more sustainable change.

Collaboration and Growth

Therapy is a collaborative process. Together we identify goals, build skills, process ways to effectively approach obstacles, and create practical strategies that support lasting well-being.

My hope is that clients leave therapy not only feeling better but possessing tools they can rely upon for the rest of their lives.
